My Cousin Tone' is a jazz band of talented and extraordinary musicians. The band plays classic jazz, jazz blues, hard bop, and jazz soul from the era when Blue Note, Prestige, Verve, and Riverside all produced a collection of jazz tunes that will live on forever. The band benefited from the fantastic guidance and arrangement talents of Dick Griffo , the legendary alto sax player formerly with Woody Herman and now honors his memory along with the memory of Jim Kurzdorfer, the great bassist and original member of Spyro Gyra who served as a mentor. Come and re-live the era of jazz greatness.
The band and guests had a great time at the Town Pub this past Saturday. Here are some photos of the band from that evening. We hope to see you tomorrow night at the Sportsman Tavern as we get 3 sets ready for a great summer evening of jazz. Please come out and support live jazz in Buffalo. The Sportsman Tavern is one of Buffalo's legendary music venues with a rich history. It is great that jazz will be heard here tomorrow night.
After a great jamming session of playing at the Town Pub last night, My Cousin Tone' is getting ready to hit the stage at Sportsman Tavern this Wednesday July 13th at 7:00pm. We are looking forward to playing at this legendary venue which has recently been remodeled and is as great as ever.
The band introduced a couple of new songs last night and we are getting ready for two sets this Wednesday that exemplifies the jazz blues era and more. MCT shines on such tunes as Work Song by Cannonball Adderly, Blue Monk by Thelonious Monk, and Sister Sadie by Horace Silver. Sure to get your foot tapping.
Come out this Wednesday night to not only support the Sportsman Tavern as well as the band but to support helping to keep jazz alive in Buffalo. The Sportsman Tavern is located on Amherst Street in the Black Rock district. This district is enjoying a renaissance with Mark and Charlie Goldman set to open a new restaurant soon. The district on Amherst Street also houses a couple of new art galleries.
It should be a nice summer night to hear the cool sounds of jazz. Hope to see you there!
We begin what is sure to be a jazzy musical week as the band kicks off the first of three shows in one week tomorrow night at the Town Pub starting at 8:30pm. Great tunes are in store as we do two sets of instrumentals focusing on the likes of Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver, Lou Donaldson, and Sonny Rollins.
It is going to be a hot weekend so come inside to the Town Pub and cool off. They have great food, beer, and drinks. The Town Pub is on 2309 Eggert Road in Tonawanda where Sheridan and Eggert meet. Hope to see you there!
